QuillBot Key features

QuillBot drawbacks

  • Limited Features in Free Version: The free tier only offers basic paraphrasing modes and restricts the number of characters you can process. To unlock advanced features like plagiarism checking and a more sophisticated “co-writer” function, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.
  • Inconsistent Results: While QuillBot can be helpful for rephrasing sentences, it doesn’t always guarantee perfect results. The paraphrased text might require some tweaking to ensure it conveys your intended meaning accurately and reads naturally.
  • Not Foolproof for Plagiarism Detection: Don’t rely solely on QuillBot to avoid plagiarism. While it can help rephrase sentences, it might not be enough to eliminate similarities to the source material. It’s always best to properly cite your sources and ensure your writing reflects your understanding.
  • Privacy Concerns: QuillBot collects user data, including what you type into the tool. While this might be necessary for its functionality, it’s something to keep in mind, especially if you’re dealing with sensitive information.

Grammarly drawbacks

  • Limited context: Grammarly may struggle with understanding the nuance of your writing, especially technical writing or creative styles that use jargon or unconventional sentence structures.
  • Cost: The free version of Grammarly has limited features. To unlock the advanced features like plagiarism checking and style suggestions, you need a paid subscription.
  • Offline access: Some Grammarly features require an internet connection, which can be a limitation if you need to edit while offline.
  • Data upload: By using Grammarly, you are uploading your writing to their servers. This can be a concern for some users, especially if they’re working with sensitive information.
  • Third-party sharing: While Grammarly claims limited sharing, relying on third parties always introduces some risk.

Can you trust QuillBot and Grammarly for grammar checking?

Mostly yes. I would strongly recommend double-checking the text you are correcting with these tools, as they may not always understand the full context if you are creating more complicated sentences.

But for simple, short sentences they are great and require very little or no correction.

Which is better: QuillBot vs Grammarly?

Grammarly is better as an integrated browser extension and is a great grammar checker, while Quillbot has more features like citation and summary AI tools and is better as a standalone app.

Which is better: QuillBot vs Grammarly?

Grammarly also has a cleaner interface and does not have any problems using Chrome or other browsers. Quilbot has a less user-friendly interface than Grammarly.

While these tools won’t improve your writing skills and won’t launch your freelance writing career, they’re great for people who want to write text and think about how to fix it later.

In the end, choosing between Grammarly and Quillbot depends on what is more important, but in essence, they are both great writing assistants and can be used to great effect with content creation tools. I would recommend trying them both out for yourself as they both offer great free plans.

If both QuillBot and Grammarly don’t meet your needs, consider hiring a company that specialises in building custom AI tools and AI automation.
